hello All
I'm going to build an MX5 based roadster....doing some initial research there seems to be a few companies offering mods to the original Haynes
Roadster design....Talon, Saturn etc
Which should I use?
cheers
If you are going for a chassis kit or pre-fabricated chassis.
I would use Phil @ Talon
He has done a fair bit of development work on the MX5 based Haynes Roadster.
Hi.
I am building a Talon haynes roadster from his flat pack kit and can highly recommend it.
Everything goes together so easily you *almost* don't even need the book!
The added advantage is he is still trading unlike Saturn, so parts you can't/don't want to make yourself can be purchased from him.
If I had an mx5 I'd be seriously tempted by the MX250. http://www.tributeautomotive.co.uk/mx250.html
As nice as the tribute stuff can look, I think it takes a lot of extra work to get it to look its best.
I to am building a Talon flat pack I also bought wishbones and his rear diff mod all spot on .
very well made
Gary
Thanks for all the replies...that helps.
If Saturn have gone out of business then I won't be heading down that route.
I will do some more research around Talon.
The other company (from memory) is something like SSC....any comments?
One other thing....I have noticed that you can pick up abandoned kits...if I bought one of these is there any documentation telling me how to modify the chassis for the MX5 bits?
If you pop over to the haynes roadster forum I think some one will have the Saturn plans knocking around and problem with buying second hand you
don't how good or how square it is.

Haynes forum still going
Gary
Hi Rash12
Why do you recommend RRR?
i have one and am very impressed with the car i bought it part built but decided to strip what was done and start again so i was happy with the build,
the service i got from the manufacturer was second to none, i think its one of the best chassis out there , im sure others wont agree, if you are
local or passing you are more than welcome to call round

SSC = Saturn Sports Cars.
As far as I know, Talon is the only company producing complete Roadster specific parts (except bodywork, where there's three - Vmax, Equinox and
whomever now has the moulds from AGM).
The Haynes forum was not shut down at any point - they changed their mind.
I can confirm the Haynes forum is still well and going, it has not been shut down. I have just finished a haynes Roadster but if I were to start this two year build journey again I would buy one of Phils TMXR versions of the Haynes Version. He really has sorted it out so all the MX5 parts will fit it well. I have used a few of his parts for my roadster and can confirm that they are of very good quality. Have a look at http://www.talonmotorfabrication.co.uk/shop/4581381144/tmxr-mx5-chassis/10826141
