Is it better to opt for sierra based donor as these are more readily available?

Sierra - 'cos its easier to get and cheap.

Chassis mods can be none other than IRS fittings (chassis and rear wishbones and mounts - about 6% of the build). The chassis width can be left the same but the rear track will be approx 5in wider. If you use the standard sieera rack with out mod the front wishbones also need lengthening approx 5 inches. I struggled to find a detailed set of drawing for the IRS and wishbones when I was making that last year so I just build it round the main components. Fitted the diff, made the hub carriers measured up for the wishbones and made them similar to the front. (top ones are identicle). Simple....not sure how good the geometry is but once the car is running I will have the luxury to modify it.

Apart from that its exactly (well nearly) the same....

I've been struggling wih this dilemma as well. Glad to know there are no other major chassis mods.

Can you use a steering rack/uprights out of another car (ie Cortina) for the front to stick with the 'book' and have a narrower front end?

Perfrectly acceptable, or your could use the front bits from a London Taxi and have a great turning circle!!!

I really dont understand the mechanism whereby people unwhittingly resurrect these zombie posts in forums!

resurrecting dead threads, it's the latest craze on forums.

Yeah I've heard that, and know it's common - but it always looks like an honest mistake - as if the necro-poster was making a well meaning reply, and just didn't realise how old the thread was. Hence the question - how did they come to be reading such an old post anyway??

Or am I just showing my age (all of 29) and out-of-touch-ed-ness? Is it always diliberate, and making it look like an honest mistake all part of the fun of the necroposting craze?

Perhaps I'll have a go and see if I like it...

TBH I was just browsing through some of the old members on this forum and wondering why they'd registered, posted only once and then never came back. It seemed like an amusing idea to resurrect the thread and see if anyone else replied without noticing how old the thread was. (You'd be surprised how many do!)

I don't frequent many other forums (cos I spend enough time on this one and also have a life!) and didn't realise it was the latest craze.
