Wide bodied 7
Bob Hardy - 18/6/24 at 08:23 AM

Hi I am researching a 7 build and would like any info on a wider 7 build and any complications it brings??

I think the McSorley 442 variation is a reasonably well proven wider option? But you then have the added complication of not many suppliers for bodywork. If you are reasonably confident to make your own panels then it's worth a look.

Not been nosy but do you need a wide body car ?
If you use fiberglass seats it makes a big difference to the size off people fitting in standard 7 s

I used a cortina donor and made the chassis four inches wider. Seats were easier to find and an amazing difference in the footwell compared to westfiels and caterhams.

Will look into this idea cheers

You could also make bench seats to get maximum driver & passenger space in the car as well.

If you build the later Haynes Roadster you will find it is 4" wider than most 7's & fitted me well - 6' and too many pies 15 stone! Do you need more??
