Gents
I hope you can can help me. I've been watching this list for months, and it seems like someone, somewhere will have an answer for everything!
I've just taken delivery of enough metal to build a chassis. I'm planning a GTS De-dion chassis, but was wondering if anyone had built a
book chassis, and then added the GTS rear end? The reason I ask is that the GTS rear end is 25mm taller than the book chassis. Having spoken to
Darren, this is to make the car easier to get through SVA on harness mounting heights. Has anyone had problems getting a book chassied car through the
test.
Thanks in advance for your help.
yes if the seat belts are mounted at the rear crosstube hieght ,you need very thin low seat squabs to get the SVA measurement.
Or you need to raise the seat belt mounting points ,perhaps with a harness tube across between the rollbar uprights.
Thanks very much
Another question - Does anyone know whether if I go for a book height chassis with the de-dion axle, will all the shock mounts and axle mounts still
line up and be central. I was thinking that the extra inch comes from extending tubes K1 and K2, which in turn slightly pushes the top rear shock
mounts further back. I just worry that if I use GTS trailing arms to mount the rear axle, the shocks will end up sitting at a slight angle when you
look at the car side on.
I hope that makes sense!
Cheers
