Before I get my chassis fully welded, can anyone see anything I have missed or anything structuraly wrong with my chassis.
Planning to add the hoop for the steering column later and the odd small bracket and shock mounts.
Cheers,
Pat...

Top belt/harness mounts?, radiator mounts?, handbrake bracket?, brackets for solid to flexi brake pipe unions?. err thats all i can see.

Something to bolt your seats to?
Seat mounts was the thing I noticed too. Don't think bolting them to the ally floor is good enough for SVA (or safety), you need a more secure
mounting point.
Other than that, looking good!
Pete
Handbrake mount is there - it's very small and going at the front of the tunnel near the scuttle and vertical.
Going to weld two 3mm bars across the bottom for the seats - jut like an MK, but going to wait until I have the seats so I get them spot on.
Upper seatbelt brackets will be relevant to the type of seat, so will do them once I get the seat in place.
Front brake flexy pipes will bolt throught the ali side panels.
Radiator mounts will be put on once I have the nose cone sorted - shouldn't be hard though as the 'blade rad is really small.
Cheers so far.
Pat...
Just a small thing. the ends of the tubes arnt capped..
Roll bar and roll bar mounts? Especially if you want to race it. (if that is what you want to do)
Andy
Tubes will be capped in the weldathon - got to cut out the centre bit of the bar at the back below the diff and cap these as well, so that'll be
my reminder.
Far bottom corner roll bar plates will be welded in once the chassis is fully welded and then the roll bar welded in place.
Anything else...
Pat...
More additional bracing is an option. The pictures show additional braces that i've come across more than once in the past.

Cheers - though about them, but it's all this weight compromising stuff.
As it is, chassis stands at 55kg.
Also got the fireblade cradle adding additional stiffness.
Pat...
Hi Pat
I know you are ver weight concious but one diagonal acros sthe front trapeezoid would not ad much to the overall mass but would ad a lot of stiffness
.......
other wise looks good .
best wishes
Iain
Pat,
Looking good. Gotta agree with Iain here.
You really want that front inverted V to prevent the whole front of the chassis lozenging.
Also, what about a towing eye?
Cheers,
James
Fuel tank supports?
Front upper shock bracket?
Tabs to attach nose cone with.
Pedal mounts? Or you buying bolt in pedal box?
You going De Dion or Live Axle?
HTH,
James
Cheers guys.
Nose cone and front shocker mounts will go in once nose cone positioned and shockers bought.
Fuel tank will have an angled bracket on each side which will sit on the sloping bars.
Pedal box will be MK's and will be done when the 3mm plate and tubes for the cables is fully seam welded in.
Car will be Live axle.
Towing eyes - thanks - that's something to add. 8mm solid round???
Might put one diagonal brace in the front, but many cars don't and I don't know of any that have lozenged unless they've been in a
crash bad enough to do other damage. The fireblade engine cradle does provide additional bracing across the top rails of the chassis as well.
Cheers,
Pat...
steering column mount?!!
rad mounts, headlight bar/bracket
ps and i nearly forgot - chassis earth point.

Doing the bottom radii on the back panel the same as the top might well stop your rear arches fitting properly.
Have a look
here.

What about the curved bits from rear shock/rollbar mounts to top of chassis to follow wheel arch?
Marcus
But then again, it may not
Rescued attachment Rear End.jpg
Radius is biger at the bottom and I can do the fibreglass thing and will be spraying the rear arches...and they will fit when i'm done!
Going to use Stuart Taylor rear arches so I don't need to put in the cuved bar for the front top quarter of the rear arches.
With regards to the towing loops, can I weld two small tubes through the bottom chassis bars at the front and back of the car and then just bolt on
one of those hoops for an aerial mast as and when it is needed?
Cheers,
Pat...
