Hi Guys

I have just purchased a home built locost chassis plus some other stuff for less than the cost of the steel to build one.

However I am fitting a sierra LSD rear axle, can some one please advise what I need to do to fit it. Is it the same as fitting the "book axle" or do I need other stuff or alterations to the chassis.

It's a lot different as the original chassis was designed for a live axle.

Best option is the de-dion kit from GTS tuning and only limited mods are then necessary to the back of the chassis.

What the Avoneer said. I think some of the other locost suppliers might do a de-dion setup but i think GTS is probably your nearest and his stuff is very well made. A de-dion is much easier than it first looks so don't be put off by all the bits involved. Cheers.

You'll need to get some diff plates (gts part no GTS-2700 £15) and weld them at the end of the rear of the tunnel. You will also need to mod the bottom rear chassis members which go rearwards and pick up with the rear panel/tank support


De-dion Mod

ignore the 'to cut' text written on. the passenger side is book, the drivers shows the ' L ' shape you need to create to allow clearance for the dedion tube (obviously you need this both sides)

The panard rod location needs to be thought of as well as the fuel tank gets in the way of where it needs to go so we raised the tank to allow clearance.

We rose jointed the panard rod (de-dion pickup point end) to furthur help with clearance
