Rear infill panel radius
Gav - 1/10/05 at 11:26 AM

Im just doing the infill panels at the rear where the trailing arms attach to the upright tube.
the panel that sits above this which is curved and looks like it follows the radius of the arches.
Since i dont have any arches yet, whats the radius of this panel?

TIA

depends on your arches.

if it helps, the mk ones are nothing like concentric.

I`m exactly at that stage too mate. Its getting rear arches to suit the wheels you got then bulding the steel panel to suit.Thing is I`ve been at this stage for 18 months! Too many projects!

same here .......... haven't a clue what to do!

I know IrvineD fitted some ali to the inside of his arches to fill the gap to the chassis.

I'm not bothering with steel for the curvy bit, I'll make something light fit in the place after the rear wings are on.

I measured from the top of the axle (axle mounted) to the top of the frame, and matched that radius all the way down with a piece of flat.

When I got my arches (fenders? wings?) all I had to do was beat the top edge a bit with a hammer as the fenders weren't perfectly round , but slightly flattened on the top.

~I~ think I lucked out!

If I were to do it again, I would make them out of round tube. Looks nicer, more "correct."
