what chasis number to use?
02GF74 - 15/12/05 at 09:33 AM

got response from formula 27 about chasis number that said I can use whatever 17 digit number I like.

Does it have to be digits (numbers) or can I use letters?

If you have to make up your own chasis number, can you give me some ideas what I should use?

currently think of somthing like:
F27, FORM27 or FORMULA27 followed by numbers.

Do a search on here for more detailed info, but in summary:

Yes, it has to be 17 characters

It depends on your local DVLA whether they will let you make up your own number or issue one themselves.

For myself, I made up a number starting STL05 (for Stuart Taylor Locost 2005) plus a combination of initials and ages of my family. I wrote to Maidstone DVLA suggesting this and they were fine with it. Other offices insist on allocating the number.
