got response from formula 27 about chasis number that said I can use whatever 17 digit number I like.
Does it have to be digits (numbers) or can I use letters?
If you have to make up your own chasis number, can you give me some ideas what I should use?
currently think of somthing like:
F27, FORM27 or FORMULA27 followed by numbers.

Do a search on here for more detailed info, but in summary:
Yes, it has to be 17 characters
It depends on your local DVLA whether they will let you make up your own number or issue one themselves.
For myself, I made up a number starting STL05 (for Stuart Taylor Locost 2005) plus a combination of initials and ages of my family. I wrote to
Maidstone DVLA suggesting this and they were fine with it. Other offices insist on allocating the number.
Mine was issued my local DVLA office
Not terribly original but got this one approved
