Because I’ve got long legs I need to increase drivers footwell length and have been looking at various options.
Ideally want to keep chassis overall dimensions as per book.
I’ve been weighing up whether to go bike engine which will allow simple mods to move pedals forward as engine sits on passenger side. However I think
I would rather go with a 1600 x-flow – can’t say why exactly !
Anyway, what is there to prevent moving engine forward, say 1” to 2”.
Can the gearbox bell housing be cutout locally to let the footwell move forward, this will depend on how much clearance there is between clutch assy
and bell housing. The cut out in the bell housing can be closed off with a suitable plate welded in place.
I reckon I need about another 4” altogether ( at least that’s what my wife tells me ).
Thanks
Les
have you sat in a built car, i'm 6'1" and fit in with ease.......iv'e seen bigger chaps than me gerrin ok too.....
Sat in Stuart Taylor chassis car at Stafford show - I belive this is as per book.
My knees where too high and close to steering wheel, didn't feel comfortable.
The seats were not too thick so not much gain if used fibreglass seats.
I am 6'2" with 33" leg so think it is leg length rather than actual height that is issue.
Les
you should a sat in an Indy...loads a room
I found stuart taylor small as well, but everyone elses book version fits like a glove
I'm 6ft 1" and arf a pound heavier than jon
What I need to do then is sit in a proper book chassis.
Did try one a while ago but had no pedals or seats so difficult to access.
Problem is I don't know of any completed cars around Preston area. Are there any ?
Can anyone help ?
I will try and get to the Yorks meeting at some point if I can as that is nearest to me although can't manage that for a while.
