Hi,
I want to start my locost build as soon as I can. I have decided to buy the chassis as I plan to race the car and dont want it falling apart in the
corners. Is there a recommended kit? I know there are lots for sale (luego kit etc) but which is the best value for money?
I have about £500, maybe a little more, but can't afford to use gold.
Thanks in advance!
Here's what can be achieved with an MK chassis:

Most chassis' are around the £650-700 mark.
The GTS chassis is £630 + £140 if you want it powder coating. Slightly different to book design, but you can still fit an escort live axle if you want
to.
If you are taking part in the 750 race series then you are limitied to whose chassis you can use IIRC.
David
£500 for a Megablade chassis atm.

Stuart Taylor Locoblade chassis is £500
The "problem" with both of these is (I'm guessing here) you need to use the respective manufacturers wishbones etc.
Whilst with the MK locost chassis clearly "the book" lets you make your own or buy cheaply.
I'm sure MK like most manufacturers will have a show offer during the year which will include wishbones and some other parts, i would strongly
advise purchasing the wishbones from the same supllier as the chassis though as i have seen and heard of variations in fitment.
Make a short list of manufacturers and give them a call for prices of a locost chassis including bones, also ask them if they will throw anything else
in if you pay cash
The 1st of the kit shows is due in april at detling in kentso its a good time to get an order in before they start getting busy, always try and get a
waiting/delivery time as well.
hope this helps
be careful as i'm not convinced that if you buy one manufactures chassis others GRP will fit as well.
If it's a book sized chassis, then book sized GRP should fit fine. Where you have to be carefull is mixing GRP from different manufacturers...
I was planning to race in the 750 series so it looks like a toss-up between Stuart Taylor / luego chassis. I already have quite a lot of the running
gear (cortina uprights, escort axle, prop & rack, shocks etc) but not wishbones, so I'll take your collective advice & buy both
together.
*sucks air through teeth*
Looks expensive though.

D'oh
Best feedback would be to see which chassis has the made the best efforts in the locost series since birth,i beleive the ST has made the most impact
but your investigations should clear this up if i'm wrong.
I would definatly go with the market leader
according to the STM website, they've won 70% of something or other. They certainly do well in racing.
You might like to have another look on ebay - there's a pre - lit wetfield chassis on there.
Buggered if I can see the difference....
Ahem...
Anyway - that might do you

( The guy who sniped the other one from you )
First question . whitch of the 750mc championships are you looking at.
for locost racing its either luego stuart taylor procomp or build your own as i belive that mk dont make the original book chassis any more.
If it's kitcar class then its a different matter . But a locost chassis run in kits has to comply with the locost regs interms of chassis. That
therefore means that noway would it be up to the handeling standards of the rest of the field.
RGB again it a fairly open class and take your pick of all the kit manufacures.
hope that helps
cheers matt
