Top belt mount questions ?
big_wasa - 29/4/06 at 08:20 PM

I want to mount the harnes mounts to the chassis not the roll bar.

Would the way ive tacked them in the pic be A)safe...... B)Sva friendly ?

the threaded tube goes all the way through the box section and would be fully welded.

Another question do I need two top mounts ? or can I mount both straps of the four point harnes to one mounting ? Like the very first pic in the second edition book..

Thanks

you can always use a 3 point harness, designed to use just one top mount. Id add a 3mm plate round the threaded bit, top and bottom, to reinforce it. Theres no black and white here, but if you are seen to have made an effort and thought about it then they will go easier on you.

Hey warren thats looking very steely

The 4 point mounts on my mk dont look as strong as what you've done there and my mates passed through SVA about 4 weeks ago.

As joel said, just make it look like its hard as nails and they'll be happy.

just worth checking i will be high enough for SVA, think its 450mm above the reference block they sit on your seat.

That should do it

Im hoping the height should be ok. The dims for sva are 450mm above a 53mm block.

Im 6'3" tall so will be having very little in the way of seating, I think ive got about 50mm to play with for seating.

that looks ok to me mate

Looks great mate. Dont think they'll have any snags with that.
