N1 and N2 tube thickness

I've just chopped out the N1 and N2 cockpit side tubes from my chassis (after adding temporary bracing) in order to re-position them sloping down so they fit my GTS bodywork.

Would it be worth getting some 2mm wall thickness RHS for these tubes to add a little more side protection?

I'm making my whole chassis out of 2 mm.
Although 2 mm is stronger I personal don't think it gives you more protection due the small place where you're sitting.

If you want more protection you have to make the chassis wider and have some 45 or 90 degr bracing. Problem will then be where to sit. ;-)

Gonna make bugger all difference IMO.

The height of most car's bumpers is gonna be above the side rail of the car anyway. You just gotta hope it hits your rear wheel arch first instead of directly to your arm/shoulder/head!

Yeah, decided it's a bit of a waste of time, also not that keen to be welding a heavier gauge section into the middle of a lighter gauage run.
