can this diagonal (arrowed) be removed from the mk chassis,was originally bike powered ,car engine now being fitted..

It "can", but it's not advised for chassis stiffness. Or if it must be removed, replace it with a shorter diagonal.

Hi allmost all other kit manufactures manage to get a 4 cyl engine in with this diagonal in. No way with a v8 tho as said would then need a short rear diagonal. If it is removed and nothing added at all like the mk's . the front end has no real strenght and one good pot hole has seen the front end put out of shape . Iv'estraightend about 5 or 6 to date . On thier locost race chassis they called it light weight the drivers called it stupid .

The other option is to replace it with a Y-brace like this example:

Gives you more clearance but doesn't lose the strength.

The diagonal tube is very important and prevents the chassis from lozenging. I would do my best to keep it or failing that, replace it with something that does the same job.
