Can anyone point me to an online source for info on the MSA regulations for roll-over protection for competition vehicles?

What you need i s a copy of the MSA Blue Book, It will have all the regs you need and also includes pictures of the different styles of Cage.

not that I have ever seen unfortuantely. You really do need the blue book if you are serious about building a competition car (or borrow somebody elses! that's what i always did!)

Then get used the deciphering the rules in the same was as SVA manual rules and working out how to "optimise" the rules to fit your needs!

for a lsis it should just be the lowest class of bar ie a braced single hoop with either forward or rear stays. the main hoop has to be either 50x2mm or 45x2.5mm cds steel and the brace and stays 38x2.5mm cds.

Hi you can use 38mm x 2.6mm for the whole cage as that is what most kitcars in motor sport use.

If you are an MSA approved manufacturer and can provide suitable proof of a cage's ability to withstand the MSA test criteria (detailed in the blue book) then you can make it out of pretty much anything as long as its steel.

interestingly John Beardmore's cage in his morris minor didn't quite fit the blue book std drawings, so he had to provide a stress analysis for it to get a logbook.
