Im building a monocoque hillclimb special.
one issue I have come across is it has D section sides. and what I want to produce is a D shaped dish shape. I have tried to beat them by hand with mixed results. the finished product wouldn't have to be very thick (.5mm ally)

How about getting hold of a book press or simple arbor press and making up a positive and negative former then 'pressing' the profiles.

just get a bigger press than you think you will need! takes surprising force!!

nope that didn't work, thanks for your help guys.

Maybe I'll just hand fabricate them and weld on the flange out of very thin sheet steel which will have the swiss cheese treatment
