Chassis Tubing

Hi,
I am in the planning stages of building a spaceframe chassis for a road car

It will have zetec power and Mt75 gearbox

independant front suspenion with 5 link rear

The shell will be steel for the roof and rear quarters and rear panel with fibreglass doors, bootlid and flip front.

7 x 13 wheels with 175/50/13 tyres

I was just wondering if the locost chassis tube sizes would be man enough??

Cheers

Yep, will be plenty strong enough

The strength of a chassis is dependant on the design as well as the material. For a properly triangulated spaceframe the tubes used for a locost chassis are ample, even with some serious power.

Thanks for the advice David, Will get designing now then. It should be a strong chassis with the extra strength of a full rollcage.

Cheers

And I'd not use steel for any panels - far too heavy.

Ali will do fine is the chassis is done right.
