I've just got Rons book for my birthday and seeing as my family insist that I'm too old for lego, I thought I'd teach them a lesson by
building a locost. Only problem is I'm having trouble sourcing a Mk2 escort but I have found a sierra 1.6 pinto (£60) and I need to know what
parts can be used from the sierra and what chassis mods need to be made. Think I may have made a mistake !! It's definatly a 1.6 sierra but is
it a pinto engine ?? It's a "B" reg hatchback style and it's a R.W.D. Help

steering rack needs to be shortened (in the middle) or will stick outside of chassis(then need to extend arms). uprights need to be modded to fit
balljoints for wishbones, need to fabricate rear uprights, steering column as with the book needs extending.
the mkindy is based on the Sierra, it's worth going to newark if you can and take a look a the show at the indy & others. I know luego make
an insert for the uprights to accept maxi balljoints (i think).
Other people on here will know, its been done before.
Try checking out some peoples build diaries and searching previous posts.
Ned.
A pinto fit is no problem, all the info you need is on this forum and if it's not someone will help you. Use the search facility, you will be
amazed at what is there.
Welcome to the asylum
Mick
I have a 2ltr in my standard chassis and the only real differences were to move the bar that triangulates the engine compartment to the other side to
avoid the alternator and make the gearbox tunnel around the gearbox as it is bigger than the Escort box. The Sierra prop front joint is no use either
as it is too big to fit the tunnel with the big rubber cush drive on it but most people buy a prop to their own spec anyway.
yours, Pete.
