Does anyone have the weight per sq metre of 1mm stainless sheet and 1.6mm aluminium sheet?
I know the stainless will be a little heavier, but by how much?
Cheers Chris.
Not sure what you want it for... but my bodywork panels were all done in 1.2mm.
HTH,
James
8 kg for stainless
4.3 kg for aluminium
stainless is 7.365kg per mtr (1mm thick)
ally is 4.1kg per mtr (1.6mm thick)
as a rough guide
stainless steel is approx 0.00775
and alloy is 0.00271
figures are grams per cubic millimetre, so work it out from there.
8.03kg 18Cr-8Ni stainless
7.47kg 27Cr stainless
2.64kg Aluminium
2.77kg 2024-T3 Aluminium alloy
Kg/m2 1mm thick.
I have all stainless side panels, scuttle, back panel, tunnel etc....... car weighs a genuine 440kgs with a full tank.
well, imagine how much lighter your car must be with ally!
