Stainless sheet vs aluminium?
Memphis Twin - 16/1/07 at 03:30 PM

Does anyone have the weight per sq metre of 1mm stainless sheet and 1.6mm aluminium sheet?

I know the stainless will be a little heavier, but by how much?

Cheers Chris.

Not sure what you want it for... but my bodywork panels were all done in 1.2mm.

stainless is 7.365kg per mtr (1mm thick)
ally is 4.1kg per mtr (1.6mm thick)

as a rough guide

stainless steel is approx 0.00775
and alloy is 0.00271

figures are grams per cubic millimetre, so work it out from there.

7.47kg 27Cr stainless
