spacers or washers

hi all
on rear of my chassis I'm using rose joints
do i have to make good spacers to fit spot on between the brackets or can i cheat and use washers

I dont suppose it really matters but ive made some top hat spaces on my lathe, makes it look a lot neater than a load of washers!

Rally Design sell side spacers if you need them.

Washers are really a temporary fix and they will trap water and gradually rust. Once you know the thickness it would be much better to turn some up on a lathe.

I got some 12mm i.d. x 1mm wall tubing to make spacers for mine.

get the spacers made, ok washers do the job okish but they will rust and they are a temp thing really, plus its an excuse to get a lathe! and it all adds quality to the build and some info to get the ladies excited down the pub!
