Has anybody got a good workaround for making the rear arch fillet tube, as shown below.

Description

Ive come to the point where i need to make some ali sides and have realised im going to need something here.

I havent got the tools to bend the tube, and need another way of achieving the same thing, unless anyone would be so kind as to make a couple for me :-) and id pay materials and postage?

Many Thanks

Chris.

Doesn't "The Book" show it made out of 3mm steel strip? You end up with a flat setion rather than round, but the steel strip is easy to form by hand and it's probably easier to form and blend the ally side panel too.

Could you make it out of flat bar and stick/rivet/bolt on some D-section ali trim?

Your right its shown using flat bar, but i think the infill is done in steel and welded in.

I think this is probably going to be the best way.

I just nailed a bit of ali sheet to the frame oversize to the arch, then cut this down with the arch fitted leaving 3/8" proud and banged on a bit of U section rubber.

But my arches do finish at the top of the rear frame.

nb/ looks like you are doing a cracking job on the scratch built front.

I covered some bits of wood with vinyl & attatched by screwing to the rear arches.
looks fine - SVA fine

I used 1" angle iron, cut it at regular intervals (about every inch iirc), bent to desired shaps and wqelded up slots.

Out with grinder to flatten welds, top edge done on linnisher, bit of paint, job done.

Look good, cost a quid and very strong.

Half hour each
