I appear to have made a mess
How do you plan on paneling the bits that need panelling?
EDIT to say there is not that much panelling to do!
What you going to use where ariel use the air deflector/aero screen etc?
[Edited on 30/8/07 by locoboy]
And where would these panels go on a not-even-remotely-related to the ariel atom type car?
Looking good there Martin, I thought they were 6 bent tubes, not 4 from your last post, or am I making things up again?
Don't worry, the other two are your templates.

There are 4 bent tubes, the other 2 were the conduit templates.
In between the rails will go cross braces.
I also plan on some thin lexan sheet to act as a wind break.
The floor will be a tub hanging off these side rails. I am hoping that carbon mods will do them in CF if not to much, otherwise a thin fibreglass
tub.
That looks really good. What seats are they?
looks great, don't take it the wrong way but won't getting in and out be difficult over that top rail?

I hope it's better than the ones on Goldwings, they are rubbish. Two of my friends have had them and swapped to hydraulic as they don't maintain their pressure and have to be constantly fiddled with.
so your gonna be popping the front wheels off the ground, then the backs and so on down your local high street on a friday night?
Air suspension using air springs, or air dampers?
They are proper bilstein shocks with airsprings from Arnot industries in Cape Canaveral Florida.
I have opted for air suspension, mainly for a softer road set up. The F1-2 knocks yer fillings out ! (not quite that bad but I want more of a
tourer).
No body popping with this as I will not be installing a resevoir tank. It is just more weight and I think, pretty uncool!

I have an air spring setup on my Audi. Comfy for roads and dropped for shows. I love it. We joked about putting in on the MK although I don't
think it would need lowering lol.
and most definately not uncool

looking good, i'm almost getting jalous by the speed your doing this.
Can't wait for you to get your 'Air Worthyness Certificate'. It looks like you'll need one.
SyKaTurbo; The seats are now £150 with free pads.
The free ones are not the same pads as mine. They are £59 per seat
How are the ones side mounted. Just drilled and bolted through as apposed to the back and front mountings shown on that auction?
My seats are mounted with aluminium frames. I have also used large washer seat kits from Karts.

Thanks for the pics.
those are damn nice seats.... and them shocks are interesting.....
#Rotor, I am not saying much on the Atom forum because of the instant negative I got last time.
I am there for the wind up!
Last time I was called Troll like so hence the new user name.
I just love the comments from the "I've got a large wallet" brigade.
It makes me glad to get to them.
The aero tube comes from www.ralt.co.uk and only £7 per metre compared to £30 per m from s.p.a !
FYI - if you haven't seen it, September / October TotalKitCar has 3 pages on the Atom
Cheers Macbeast, but the Atom website has been silly enough to show every concieveable angle of a naked chassis.
My chassis is not an exact copy, especially the rear end.
I just used their own pictures to build an approximation, but not a copy.
I hope to get the car in the low 400kg weight range.

Understood Martin. I just thought you might be interested if you hadn't seen it
also remember that the atom is actually a copy of a car originaly designed by Nicky Smart, a then student under mister whatsesname..... arg damn now I can't remember his name.... anyhow.... it's a copy of a copy of stuff that has been in Automotive use for ages....
sorry for all these questions.... that rack&pinion.... where can I get something similar, with the shaft in the middle, the one you use look to be a bit stronger and more rigid than those buggy type racks....
