hi all ive mounted the wishbone brackets onto the chassis. but to get the mounts on the frame there way out with the measurements from the book 1st drawing

on the second drawing ive moved the bar at a angle but it takes the top wishbone mounts out more but they will be in the center of the bottom wishbones. i will have to make the wishbones to suit the top brackets. but will this make any difference to the handling.

Oh dear its the old FU1 and FU2 problem! The best way to sort this is to get your wishbones and build a frame that holds them in the correct relationship then put the brackets on the wishbones. if you then offer this up to the chassis and tack the brackets on, everything should be in the right place. Check the set up by putting all the suspension on the chassis, check the wheelbase is equal both sides then check diagonals are within a couple of millimeters and you should be set.

FU1 and FU2 can be located when you have the frame set up against the chassis, remember that you do not need to have a clear line between front and back brackets for the lower wishbone.

Alot of load goes on these brackets so you may consider that additional bracing is a good idea. I added bracing to the upper brackets using Cymtrics mods for the front brackets and adding a brace between the rear top bracket and engine mount plate as used on the original 7 chassis.

I would adjust the frame to suit the brackets and bones rather than the other way round.

Another way to handle things is to make one off brackets to suit the frame i.e. deeper, wider brackets.

Take great care with this bit of the build Adam, as cock it up and not only will the car not handle but if it doesn't self centre you won't pass SVA!

Have a look at the photos in my archive in one of the folders. I built a more substantial jig than you, and then re-arranged Fu1/2 to match the brackets.

Also, your brackets are pretty narrow.... means you'll have minimal castor adjustability when it comes to fitting your w/bones.... unless you're using rod-ends.

Dont forget you need 22mm castor with narrow (Escort) track and 25mm with wide (Sierra) track cars.
