I have seen the Mac#1 Type 7R kit at harrogate show and i do like the look of it whats peoples views on it before i place my order.

paper bag man,

many others will follow with similar comments i expect; it is *VERY* similar to MK's original design and to my understanding is more expensive.

see the MK copies thread under the locost related section:
http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/viewthread.php?tid=7618

best of luck and welcome,

Ned.

I'd be concerned about buying something from a company that can't restrain their use of cheesy photographic effects

From their website ...

blame donut, he did their website!!

Talking of cheesy photographic effects, what is your avatar meant to be?

Cheeky. It's a 2 rotor wankel of course!

JoelP - 30/9/03 at 12:33 PM

i was watching it spin the other day.... trying to work out how they work. didn't get it though!

Noodle - 30/9/03 at 02:00 PM

It's meant to show the 2 sparks plugs firing in the one chamber one after the other (not very efficient combustion without as I believe there are flame propagation issues) then the bottom plug fires after the tip's past the combustion phase to burn up any left over hydrocarbons. (See, inefficient combustion!)

Gene Nomicos has done some nifty animations and has put them on his website. http://www.nomicos.com Worth a look. He's given me permission to hack his video for an avatar, so I'll be doing this soon.

Cheers,

Neil.

The brilliant howstuffworks web site has a good page on it:

New avatar is Gene's animation. Doesn't show clean-up ignition cycle though.

i was about to say the firing pattern looked different! easier to follow it this way.

Hi all,

The Mac is mainly made by Triton, and the body by Daventry Fibreglass. As of some of you will know they are great guys with top notch workmanship.

I have not seen the car up close but i would guess its a nicely made piece.

Kind regards,

Darren

Darren,

Any idea if/when triton's website will ever be up/working? I guess from the products and contacts you have that you are strongly linked with triton?

thanks,

Ned.

We have almost finished the mac,
it went together very well.
with no problems, its not a out right copy
of a MK but its close.I started build a MK
for a guy it was ok but i didnt like the bent
box section,it reminded me of old school
desks.I build a Luego Velocity that was good untill its first road test, it s track was to narrow. I widened the track by 4 inches front and back used standard driveshafts, then it was ok.
Mind you my locost is still the best, its a bit tatty now but its all my own work.
