narrow anti roll bar
smart51 - 20/1/08 at 03:32 PM

my 3 wheeler project needs a front anti roll bar. Due to the narrow width of the trike, the anti roll bar needs to be no more than 1000mm wide. Is there a donor car that has just such a bar that I can pick up cheaply?

Otherwise, what kind of steel do you need to make one? Is CDS all right or do you need special stuff?

The 2cv based kit lads were using rascal/supercarry front bar

Nope, CDS or any plain mild steel is not really suitable......an anti-roll bar is torsion bar really and as such should be made from a higher carbon spring steel....

IMO

Zcars made a custom one for the rear of my Trike, to my drawing at a very reasonable price.
Might be worth contacting them.

Give Jamie at DRD Racing a shout (drdracing@hotmail.com). The rear ones he does for the Autograss Specials are probably less than a metre. I'm pretty sure that they are made in-house so he could probably do one to suit.

A standard track Caterham ARB's are about 880 wide, and come in 4 different bar diameters. About £30-35 new from the manufacturer (I saw that somewhere), and about £10 on eBay. what size are you looking for? I've got a spare lightweight one, - 3/8" diameter

How about MGF, see a few of them and due to the weight of the car are quite substantial
