Group Buy - Haynes Roadster Chassis Tubes
adrianreeve - 18/3/08 at 08:48 PM

I posted this on the Haynes Roadster Forum, and thought it might be worth putting on here too:

Wow! Went down to BJF lasers this morning, and had a good chat with Adrian there. I want a laser profiling machine and a tube cutter!!!

They look like a really friendly and helpful company to deal with, and the prices look excellent. Adrian said he would get some prices on here tomorrow, but a fully cut and profiled set of tubes to make a complete chassis will be around £250 + vat. He's also working on a price for all the plates, and will hopefully have that aswell tomorrow.

I've also managed to negotiate a group buy discount for the chassis tubes. If we can get 10 or more orders together, we can get around a 20% discount, making a full set of tubes around £200 + vat!! Delivery would be around £30 - £50 depending on where you live, but if you are local, they're happy to let you collect.

I had a quick tot up, and it wasn't that much cheaper to just buy the raw steel and cut it all myself. At least this way we know that all the tubes will be a perfect fit.

If you're interested in getting a group buy going, please either reply to this message or e-mail me at reeve_adrian@hotmail.com, and we'll see what we can do. I definately want a set, so just need to find 9 more!

Incidently, while I was there, they were cutting tubes for Caterham chassis, so there's no problem with the quality!

Cheers

Adrian

Adrian,

Good job!

Is there an approx time limit to this offer. I may well be tempted and start sneakily making a BEC chassis

And they are only 1/2 hour away!

Simon

Was thinking a couple of weeks for the first lot. Only posted on the Haynes forum at four this afternoon and already filled four slots, so hopefully it won't be too hard get 10 quite quickly! E-mail me if you're interested, and I'll add you to the list. Cheers, Adrian

Rob - definately not!!!

how does the haynes chassis compare to the ron champion book chassis? I need a chassis that's 6" wider then book to fit my big beemer engine in.

if they can make me one that's +6" then count me in deffo!

The haynes roadster is 2" wider than the locost. It might be worth looking at the haynes roadster forum and searching for BMW installation, as I have a vague recollection that this subject has been discussed before. If it works out, let me know, and I'll include you on the list.

I've just spoken to Adrian at BJF lasers and finalised prices for the group buy.

For the chassis kits, it's £207 + vat if we can get 10 orders.

For the plate kits, which include all chassis plates, gearbox mounts, SS1 strips and diff plates, it's £94.50 + vat, again if we can get 10 orders.

He can only hold these prices for rwo weeks due to the fluctuations in steel prices at the moment, so if you want to order, please let me know by 1st April.

Cheers

Adrian

Thanks Ade, looks like I won't be able to use the Haynes chassis as by measuring my engine and helpful members measuring their own cars, my Beemer V8 would barely squeeze in a +4" chassis.
