I am planning on building a Locost chassis, but 4 inches wider with a Cortina back axle. Eventually i want to go De Dion and put a Rover V8 in it.
Is it any more tricky to do than the standard chassis??
How sensitive is the handling to small differences in the front / rear track difference (if you see what i mean!!). i.e., if on my chassis, the f/r
track difference is 3 inches, as opposed to 2 inches on the book car??

Not really more tricky, the plans exist and all you are doing it widening it so the suspension geometry isn't affected. Wide track = good so I
wouldn't worry about that, I think that wider front is possibly more desirable but i'm not 100% on that.
We are building a McSorley 7+4 with a Rover V8 EFI from an SD1 Vitesse (coming tomorrow!) and were are hoping to use the GTS Tuning de Dion kit at the
rear, we are using Sierra XR4x4 running gear.
BTW, we have an axle from a MKV 2.0L Cortina if you are interested.
Are you talking about buying an avon or building one from their book?
Have a read of the Avon section of this forum- I can't think of a single person who's said good things about the kit and people've been
pretty rude about the Avon book plans aswell!
When it comes to the Indy- it's great!

dont try using the avon book to build your own its not a plus 4
i am building one from rons book and mcsoreys drawings
both are much beter than the avon
the avon book has lots of things missing
