I would like to say hello to all the members in the forum. It is great being a member as well.
I am thinking of making my own Locost car but i have a small problem. I am thinking of all these variants that i need to make clear before I start my
built. The two major of these are my Body Size.
I am 6ft7 about 230lbs and wear size 12 shoes. Obviously, i need to consider the size of the cockpit before i start my design.
Has anyone else had that problem and solutions on it?
Thank you in advance

Perhaps look at the Leugo Sports Car site for their Viento kit............... HERE
My SVA ins peter was canny tall with size 12's... easy fit in my MNR. Go for it
I went to Bristol today. There is a Westfield there for sale. I thought i would check it out.
As expected, i couldn't fit in it. The chassis was too narrow and my legs were in contact with the steering wheel which was so small as well. The
guy suggested to check caterhams as they are supposed to be a little more spacious.

Caterhams are the smallest of the lot - my son's 6'1" with size 10 feet, and he had to take his shoes off to drive one.
It's worth looking at the Viento - bags of space for driver AND a big engine! They don't look any bigger than a standard 7 - until you put
them side by side...
LINK (Piccy 1 up from the bottom)
They are well-proportioned though - they still look good.

Normal caterhams, as said, are quite small. They do make larger ones (SV's) for the, ahem, more generously proportioned customers.

I have been looking at McSorley's design. I need to make up my mind.
Officialy i started retreiving the parts today. I got the gearbox from an MX5 and made some good connections with someone who can supply me with a lot
more parts. Tomorrow is degreasing day and looking for the chassis.
Is there someone who has completed a locost on McSorley's design in order to ask a couple of things?
Regards

Not yet, but i have studied it extensively, as im not building a standard car myself. The book chassis can be widened by 4" as well, which may
suit you better??
The plans are on the mcsorley site for the 4" or even the +442 chassis.

Well. According to my calculations and design so far,
_______________book chassis____mine
car lenght
cabin + engine______2.036m_____3.075m
cabin width________1.118m_____1.350m
front width upper ____63cm_______65cm
front width lower ____39.2cm______65cm
engine bay height____30.5cm______40cm

An additonal Metre in length???
so what axles are people using for the 442 build
the website says an extra 4" of track is required
just wondered if an escort would allow wider wheels etc with some great big spacers lol
