Has anyone had their chassis grit blast cleaned, prior to painting?
Mine has gone a lovely shade of dusty brown, because it hasn't been touched for months, due to circumstances beyond my control.
I discovered last week, that there appears to be a local guy that has the equipment.
Just wondering what kind of price is considered reasonable, as I have no experience in this area.
Can't answer your question I'm afraid, but I do know that some paints are supposed to work better on a wire brushed, but rusty surface

I would get it sand blasted if i was you, the paint finish will be alot better after sand blasted, especially if its been sitting around.

Cost wise (and I know you're talking about painting not powder coating) the guy I use blasts everything, zinc coat then powder coats - he reckons around £350 to do a se7en chassis.
If you want to use POR15, don't get it blasted!
We blasted ours then sprayed it with 2 pack etch primer and then satin black. Got a really nice finish hard finish that is pretty tough too.
Hi,
I had my chassis blasted a couple of months ago:
Blasting- £45
Zinc Primer- £75
Powder Coat Top coat- £10
Bit of a trek for you (Tewksbury) but if you want his details, giz a shout. He did an awesome job.
Cheers
Rob
Cheers Rob, that's what I was after.
Thanks to everyone else for their valued input. As ever, much appreciated.
