I've altered my exhaust manifold to fit but it is still very close to the chassis approximately 3mm. How do i protect the chassis from heat?
The chassis is about to be shot-blasted and powder-coated.

What about the engine moving in the cradle?
I think I would use a vice to dent the pipe a bit. I do know this will be bad for the flow in the pipe. Maybe use some kind of reflecting tape and a
lot of air flow to protect the chassis.

What I would do is tack welda bar above the rail, cut the rail out under the exaust pipe and weld another slighlty longer rail below and maybe a
gusset or two.
unless the clearance (the width of the rail) is an issue, that would be my suggestion.
Not only movement of the engine but don't under estimate thermal expansion as well, you'd probably be suprised by how much it will move. Our
system lengthens something in the order of 10-15mm, admitadly over a longer run.

I can cut the pipe further back, will 10mm clearance be enough or do i need more?
If your engine is rigid mounted, which I am guessing it is if its a bike engine then you only need enough space for thermal expansion of the exhaust,
which will be 2 or 3mm on a stainless system.
10mm is going to be more than adequate.
