just got back from spain. in the scrap yards over there, there are rows of alfas charged me £50 for a pair of 40s.no trouble getting them back apart from the x ray i hade to take them out of my bag so they could see them
Sounds good. Even with a ticket to spain, it could be cheaper than buying a pair over here!
Hope you enjoyed your holiday... where abouts did you go?
John.
On a similar note...
Mk1 & 2 Escorts aplenty in Malta.
Dozens of the buggers still on the road.
Not so easy to carry a whole car in your luggage on a plane though...
Could be a great adventure though! Buy a car in Malta, and drive home via ferry - Europe -ferry back to Blighty.
May cost a fair bit in the end, but you would have had a good holiday!
I presume that they drive on the right in Malta?
David
As a former British colony and all round excellent place they drive on the correct side of the road.
If you go over there just remember not to mention Germans or Italians after they tried to bomb the crap out of Malta during the war. Heavier bombing
than the Blitz over here...
beware when usin webers that were standerd fit on italian cars sometimes there not the same my mate had to modify normal ones when he was swaping the
"standerd" ones off his 131 miafioria also i remember reading an articale (in classic ford i think) that said the chokes, and jets can have small
differences in them and sometimes a britsh one wont run beside a forign one if using a pair (hope you understand what i'm tryin to say)
any way i'll have a look for the articale over the weekend i never throw my mags out (except my old max power's)
seen simular things happen, there set up with emmissoins in mind (they are a road car) rather than power, need a fair fettle on rollers to make em work proper, or not so green anyways......
if u wanna beat emmissions get some racin fuel the 76 stuff can be mixed with unleaded brings it right down!!!!! so get friendly wit ur local racer.
so can avgas from the air port but it can bleep up fuel pumps if u use it too much..
Ive got a pair of solex 40s of of an Alfa, does anyone know if they can be set up for a crossflow and are they as good as webers?.
Paul.

Here is some usefull tips when dealing with webers. http://members.aol.com/dvandrews/webers.htm
I planning to use Dellorto 40. They where fitted on some Alfas here in sweden. You can get them for 40 euros.
Micael
drove an escy 2.0 ltr pinto piper 285cam on 45 dellortos was well sweet thought it was a lot smoother with the power than with webers
locodude no on cloud 9 i kept the pre 72 reg
In that case, its not "as my locost is classed as a kit car" its age-related then
Quite right Uncle F.!
