Kit transportation

I'm off up to MK to pick up my kit on Monday. It's the deluxe kit - new chassis. Do you think I'll get all the bits in / on top of a renault scenic or am I better off hiring a van? I'm coming from Brighton so I'm a long way from home if I can't get it all in.

hire a van it doesnt cost much £50ish

and whilst you have it take all the sh1t you removed from the garage to the tip.

LWB Van wouldnt try and cut any corners

definatley a van. wouldnt want any accidents with your new pride and joy. not worth the risk for the sake of £50-£60

van. I put the chassis on the roof of my forester and it was fine. but I only live in Nottingham. I think van is best for you.

Long Wheel Base van DEFF!!!! i've done it twice from Surrey and it's much easier with a van.

I was at MK picking up my Kit in a LWB Iveco van (borrowed from work) when Lenny turned up to collect his deluxe kit, in a Laguna Estate.

It all fitted inside, and on a roof rack, but there was no room for a passenger!

I've managed to cram an entire deluxe kit and a blade engine in/on my 406 estate and then driven 270 or whatever miles to edinburgh with no stresses, so it can be done

got all mine in a 406 estate with the chassis on the roof and then drove all the way back in the dark, in blizards and huge snow drifts with cars stuck in them. Hell of a ride!

That's the thread I was looking for! I think he has PC issues which means that he can't log-in. Still reads the site and will hopefully be lending a hand with mine. Still a top effort to get that home.

Thanks lads, van it is.

Would be interested in a look over the kit once you get things straight in the garage, Bodger, as it may swing my decision on new or 'traditional' Indy.

I'm just along the road in Mile Oak/Portslade so if you need a hand at any time, just yell.

Colnago_Man - 27/1/07 at 04:18 PM

Anybody know what the weights of a chassis is? Then I can check it against the max weight for my roof bars.

PAUL FISHER - 27/1/07 at 05:07 PM

With a standard roll bar and a alloy floor panel your looking 70kgs,the new chassis is slightly heavier than the old one.
