Hi guys,

Whats the most common bike engine being used these days? Is the general rule still 1000cc and below don't need dry sumping?
My last one was a 5pw R1 but sold that about 7 years ago. Car will be another striker if it makes a difference.

id probably say the fireblade in various models is most popular. 893.919,929,954, and the newest 1000rr
but zx9,zx10,zx12, gsxr 1000,1300 busa, and of course the R1 are all popular!

It's a very hard decision. Hope to be ordering the New chassis in the next month or so.

R1 is the easy choice but part of me says I should do something different. Like you say, fireblade is popular. Seem to be using the 08 version a lot in the RGB series. Anyone got one in a striker? I believe the air box is very tall and doesn't like running without it.

Or maybe just a highly tune 4age (money pit!!) to go with that Subaru lsd Sat in the shed!

If you're going to go for a highly tuned engine, an SR20 would see you at 300bhp pretty quickly for little outlay.... probably easier to get parts for than a 4age now...

R1's I thinks.

I have a 919 now.

Still plenty about for the 4age and lucky enough to live just down the road from engine builder Russ Tyler who has just done the 4age in Stuart Hill's Westfield which is currently leading the wscc speed championship.

That said, there are a load of great engines to pick from. Probably only limited by the tight engine bay in a striker.

If I was looking at bike power and of course being mindfully of the price I would look hard at the torque curves
