Viento Passes IVA
Irony - 24/10/15 at 09:50 AM

Took my car for its iva retest on Thursday and it passed. Had to make a minor alteration to the indicator wiring on the front wings. Something the examiner didn't pick up on the first attempt! He wanted the wiring in convoluted tubing. I had some so I stuck it on and didn't argue.

Thanks to all the people that helped me along the way. Especially to Steve who met me at the test centre. I don't think that it would have been possible without this forum for a newbie like me to build a car and get it on the road. Thanks to you all.

On the whole the IVA process was pretty painless and the examiner was great. Not as scarey as I expected.

Onward now to getting a registration plate and some iva unfriendly exhausts!

Another one for Stoneleigh, congrats on your pass

Congratulations. Surprised to hear he "failed" you on something that wasn't on the previous fail sheet.

well done is there a pic to put on

Well done, the car looks great. You never forget being given the pass certificate. We're going to need a bigger pitch at Stoneleigh at this rate!

Only two questions for you to think about now

I) when are you going to go on your first track day - you live in a good location for at least two tracks, and

ii) what are you going to build next

Good luck with the registration process. Don't forget to copy everything that you send and to use recorded delivery.

Well done that man. I never doubted your abilities.

Bit of a dodgy one with what the examiner picked up on. I have indicators on the front wings and on the original test he asked me to put extra side lights on the wings because of the wing obscuring the originals. I cable tied the new wiring to the existing indicator wiring and he saw it and said it needed to be in tubing. I said the wiring was originally there and he didn't mention it before, he said 'but it couldn't have been because of the new side lights'. I just thought 'okay I'll won't argue and just put tubing on it'.

I'll probably try and get on one of Franks track days next. It's not far from me so it's a bit of a no brainer

I have already booked Stoneleigh weekend off with the SWMBO! Although she seems to think that car meets are like those shown on Fast and the Furious. You know what I mean - lots of skinny girls in skimpy outfits etc. I told her its not like that - shame really.

The SWMBO says I have six years of DIY to do. She has already wrote a list including a new kitchen and a new conservatory. Can't blame her she has been pretty supportive when I was building the car.

Well done Irony, look forward to seeing it at Stoneleigh

Well done getting it on the road.

Just take care for a while learning how the car drives. You don't want to be doing a rebuild just yet.

Have fun, enjoy.
