Is the bolt on the Cortina bottom ball joint (as sold by lolocost) the same size for the Sierra bottom hub hole? I'm building a Robin Hood Exmo, and am working on some new front suspension so not many of the hoodies know this. Also I'm trying to work out what size tubing I should use for the suspension (From reading 22x2.64mm)?
The cortina balljoint does not fit into the sierra hub. You will need to have the bottom hole in the hub drilled to accept the cortina balljoint.
I think MK do this although Ive never been able to contact them. There is another place that does it but Ill have to look for the name. I think they
supply the hubs drilled for about £55. Youll also need to get an insert for the top of the hub and I think your talking about £60 for that. Ill look
for the name of that company and get back to you.

I understand that MK drill Sierra hubs to accommodate MAXI ball joints, not Cortina. I believe the bolt pattern (2, not 4) on the Maxi is different to
the Cortina balljoint so you may well require new/modified wishbones (but I might well be wrong)

Is there a standard defined for tapered drill bits? Or is it done with angles or ratios (ie, breadth:length) or something?
Only reason I ask is I'd consider buying the right tool (bit) if I knew what size I needed.
What size is need for the Cortina/Maxi etc?
Thanks,
James
I've seen it done with an old ball joint taper and grinding paste, takes forever BUT if you use a tapered drill use a depth stop cos if you go too far
the uprights scrap!
Cheers

Is there any bottom balljoint similar to the cortina style that fits the Sierra upright then?
Has anyone used an early Astra Ball joint? These are suppose to be the same size?
