After some advice about painting my car. I've painted a few cars before but for some reason i'm having real problems at the min.

Having painted my car using a Medium Solids Basecoat (mixed 2:1 with thinners) and then with a 1k lacquer (made by Glip Gloss) which I applied straight from the tin (didn't mix with anything)

I've come to buff it about a week later and the finnish is still very soft and I've polished through right back toi the primer with VERY little effort.

Not an expert so sure its something I'm doing wrong! Anyone able to help??

does it need baked? alot of new paints seem to need this.

the lacquer should have been mixed with hardener 2:1 with about 30% thinners or it will stay soft when i painted my car my shoes started to stick to the garage floor and i thought i hadnt mixed it right but it was just the clear coat going off and making the floor sticky the clear coat went hard without any heat

Cheers does. I was informaed that 1k lacquer didn't need hardners but suspected it did based on the result! Does anyone know the ratio? Assuming its 2:1

as sbove but speak to the supplier as they are all different i got 1 litre of lacquer and 1/2 litre of activator and was told to use 30% thinners but yours could be different also i coudlnt get 1.5 litres of paint in my gun so had to put some in and go back later to top up ps make sure you give the gun a good cean afterward because it will pnly be fit for the bin if you let the lacquer go hard in it

1K lacquer does NOT need a hardener.
Mine is painted in plyester base with a 1k lacquer & it's rock hard.
Go back to the supplier & double check what you have.

2k lacquer without the hardener will not go off at all, if 1k lacquer stays soft, then it may have trapped moisture, or is a variant which needs baking (80°C - 45 mins).

Try leaving the car out in bright sunlight for a day, should be easy in this global warming environment!

The local bike shop had a spot repair done on a tank and the man who did it used a UV light to harden the paint, it only took a few minutes.
