Hope someone can help with this matter.
Occationally the car starts and then stalls instantly and will not restart.
Most of the time I can lift the bonnet, pump the priming bulb and it will start but sometimes it won't. If I come back to it after few hours it
will start but only after a lot of cranking.
Point to note is this mostly happens when its cold.
Ive read on the web that it could be injector seals leaking. Sound plausible as fuel system must be getting air in somewhere.
Any help appreciated.
Mark
The injector seals can blow but they are the copper washers that seal the injector to the head not the fuel system
check the fuel pump at the back of the engine prone to leak and a pig to replace
fuel filter when was this last changed this can cause all manner of faults poor starting poor running etc
these are just a few
Fuel filter changed about 9 months ago, although when I started having problems I took it off while looking for leaks but found nothing.
I have never sean a sign of a leak until this morning when there was diesel on the drive when I moved the car.
as above injector seals are very prone,
If its anything like mundeos make sure they go back in the same order if you disturb them and do not allow a spec of dust in, cap the fuel pipe
immediately.
They could be configured into the ECU!
If you take the injectors out do not touch the nozzles as they are very fragile and they are not an exchange unit if they are Siemens injectors. One symptom of leaking seals is a slight "chuffing" noise, a bit like en exhaust blow. The first thing to do is replace the leak off pipes as they will cause bad starting/ stalling .
Don't know where the fuel pump is located, but a leak before the pump won't leak diesel, it will suck air in. Leak after the pump will let fuel escape. Cheers Ray
The injectors can be fitted in any order the code is only to fine tune them they will run ok without
Really needs to go on a diag scanner to check parameters and fault codes
see link this is the tdci/Hdi engine in 1.4/1.6 form
