Hi
Can anyone help me out please ?
Our front door lock is an ERA one - you flick the door handle all the way up to lock it.
Tonight though we can't get the key out. I've had it apart and the mechanism seems ok for the door part for locking - there is a square of
metal that flicks out and is held in place by the lock itself.
But when you unlock it, the same bit of metal won't retract.
Any help at this point greatly appreciated.
thanks
Is it a euro lock like this
If so exactly the same thing happened to ours last week, have you taken the barrell out of the door?
In the end I put a shifter on the key and it clicked back and the key came out again, poured some oil ( extra virgin olive ) in to both sides and
worked round a few times, now feels better than it's been in years.

Common problem they are crap locks. As suggested by davie
I recently bought a new barrel for the same reason
After reading that guide if you are ordering a new lock don't measure the old one from the screw hole measure from the edge of the cam. So for
example a 35mm / 35mm will have a total length of 80mm and measure 40mm / 40mm from the screw hole.
Guess how I found that out

I had a similar problem a while back and ended up removing the barrel and buying a new one but whilst messing about with the old barrel, I realised
what must have happened....... both me and the wife had been trying to unlock the door at the same time and the cam had flipped over. So I put both
keys in the barrel at the same time and flipped the cam back. I now have a spare barrel.

Thanks to everyone who's replied - back from B&Q with my new euro lock. The locking/unlocking works fine now as the "cam" is in
the right position when the key is in the right position to take out.
so far so good.
However, the mechanism of the handle/spindle/latch bits isn't working now.
When I pull the door handle up, the mechanism moves down and a square bit of metal drops out at an angle and slots into the hole on the frame - the
euro lock when locks seems to stop this bit of metal from going back into the mechanism flush thereby locking the door.
When I unlock the euro lock it works fine.
But when I pull the handle down as the mechanism slides back to the "open" position, the lil' square bit of metal gets jammed against
it so I cant fully depress the handle down.
Any ideas would be greatly received again .
thanks
Any chance of some pics?
It's ok now - got it all sorted.
I mean what sort of fool would not fit the fascia bit back on that holds all the moving mechanism in place - I would never do that.
Ok actually I did do that
Anyway everything now working - thanks to everyone for your posts as always.
cheers now.
