Quick question for someone in the know. Have got a 4 pin push fit energy saving light fitting in our living room. Last week the bulb blew. No problem, got new bulb identical to old one, but when fitted it only lights up very dimly and constantly flickers. Have tried a second new bulb but just the same. It didn't trip on the fuse board or anything like that. So what's going on?

gear tray issue id say. probably easier to rplace whole fitting than mess abour trying to fit new internals

As above, I suspect the control circuit failed and not the lamp itself. Or maybe one lead to the other going. In any case, replace the whole unit because the electronics to run the light will be in the base that is fixed to the ceiling!

Will do. Thanks for your help.

Is it on a dimmer? Not all of the CF lamps are dimmable.

sounds like a 4pin 2D type fitting which have control units in the base. ive just replaced 4 last week with the same fault! lamps will be fine but fitting knackered
