I thought prescriptions were around £6? Isn't it the norm to go to the doctor?

(the wifes a vet)

You can get pills from other sources (so I'm told never actually done this) however the reason for returning to the vet should be to have the animal checked out when the prescription needs repeating in order to show signs of improvement and so that they can make sure it's not having an adverse effect.

Yes, there are online shops for animal medicines. If you put the name of the medicine into Google, you should find a source.
However, I haven't found that they are much cheaper for the tablets our cat needs.

We have a local vet here and I used to take my dog to one in Chesterfield rather than 200 yards away. She had a stroke and was on one tablet a day and the vet in Chesterfield charged a third of the local vet's fee. She had 3 monthly check ups and lived till she was 18, I'm thinking of going on the same tablets.
