PS MK Indy is my current plan if I can get this enigne into one.
I recently wrote off my Clio Williams and am now looking to build a kitcar to replace it, the engine did survive though and so I'd like to use
this seeing as I've spent about 4 grand on it, 11.5:1CR, wild cams, throttle bodies, forged pistons/rods, etc its making about 250bhp so should
prove quiet entertaining

I'm not sure if you can get them, but it's the bellhousing you'll be wanting to get. Then mount a suitable ford gearbox to it. Whether
the type 9 is suitable to that amount of power, i'm not sure.
Searching through the well known companies, yukspeed do vaux and ford, rallydesign might do them. SBD are vauxhall, but might know where to get one
for your needs.
Or maybe... is there a rearwheel drive renault that has a suitable gearbox you can bolt straight on..... need to do your research 
I've a couple of points,
1. Will the insurance company let you keep the motor? My Subaru Turbo was crashed (when stolen) and they wouldn't let me have it back. I'm
lucky having a mate with a breakers license (or something) that means he can buy these things for me.
2. Renault haven't done a front engined RWD production car since God was a boy. All their monster cars have been mid engined (Clio V6, R5 Turbo I
& II) or rear engined (Alpines).
3. There is a fairly tenuous link which may be worth exploring. Before Volvo got so dull they turned to styling to help them out (i.e. before FWD, pet
hate), they did RWD cars and had a tie up with Renault. The Volvo 340 used Renault engines, (although it was rear gearboxed and de-dion ).
Even Renaults vans have been FWD.
4. In short, I think it's a type 9 bell housing hack and slash approach or find a mid-engined kit

People have talked about using a 16v (BX?) Citroen engine before. I don't suppose Citroen/Renault use the same bolt pattern do they?
I think people use a bell-housing from an LDV Pilot van to connect the Citroen engine, if they are the same then maybe this could be used?
Come on, someone must know more than me about this (wouldn't be hard!!! )

I think you mat be getting confused with the Peugeot/Citroen group link. There's no link with Renault there.

the volvo gearbox will bolt directly to the renault engine as long as you match the blocks used ie volvo 4 cyl = renault 4 cyl

The 1.7 Renault 5 used the same engine as the 1.7 Volvo 340 - That might help
Also i think the Renault 21 Turbo was rear wheel drive???

Simon, you may be able to get an adapter made to suit your engine, or otherwise how about making a rear engined car, by using your gearbox from the
reno as well?
Or have a look at stuff like the Silva Mojo, which apparently is adaptable to make many FWD engine/gearbox combos to drive the 'proper
end'

I've got a feeling my parent's old 265 Volvo had the renault engine (and was RWD). Just a suggestion!

How about using a Volvo bellhousing or maybe a 21 Turbo Quadra bellhousing and then modding that to take a type-9 box?
Would that be easier than modding a serria bellhousing to fit my lump?
