Electroplating
Does anyone know anything about electroplating?
I mean like zinc plated bolts etc (not hot dip)
Has anyone ever tried to have their chassis electroplated?

check Frosts website - they do kits for variious finished - you would needd a very large bucket and losts of chmical plus pretty hefty power supply to
do a chassis - kits are for doing small parts like nuts and bolts.

I meant taking it to a professional electroplaters with a proper bath?
I seem to remember from chemistry that its a sort of line of sight process like electrolysis,so unless I could put electrodes down the centre of the
tubes.....

Hmm, looks good for wishbones and bits, wonder where I can get a tank I can fit a whole chassis in?

it is not very different than the process described on the electrolysis thread.
I used Muriatic acid instead of baking soda.
For internals, i would use zinc rod anodes, wrapped on some kind of plastic mesh to avoid shorting the electrode with the job.
Parts need to be thoroughly cleaned from grime, grease, paint and rust, rust removal can be done in the same bucket.
Once thoroughly clean, you treatwith the zinc rod as anode innstead of iron rod.
In USA you can get the zinc rod anodes in McMaster.com.
But any shop selling water boilers may have them.
For bigger jobs, ships chandlers carry bigger cheaper zinc anodes. these may not be suitable for inner tubes.
Disclaimer:
Electrolysis produces flammable/explosive gases, and muriatic acid cuses severe burns, exercise extreme caution and proceed at your own risk
Beware of what you wish.. for it may come true....
