New builder

Hi, i have given up stock car racing and decided to use the chassis from my F2 to turn into a locust, however my F2 is a single seater and i want to go for 2 seats. Does anyone have any dimensions or diagrams for the back end of a locust? I am basically going to widen the chassis from the gearbox back, thanks!

do you mean locost or locust?

a locust is a wooden thingy, and not the subject of this list, so it might cut down the help you will get if its a locust......

There are a lot of dimensions to give....could i recommend buying the book to you...or if you want to use a de dion arse end you could look here....

http://www.gtstuning.co.uk

go to de dion and click on the pdf link next to the axle. It shows the dimensions for the GTS chassis.

Really it may be easier to build a whole new chassis.... IMHO of course...

Cheers,
David

If you gonna cut the F2 to build the whole widened backend than you might as well build the "book" locost.
Sell the F2 as a whole or keep the parts like engine, wishbones, steering rack, shocks etc...and sell the chassis
It will save you time and/or money.
Good luck!

That's a wise decision i guess. With all the help you can get from the guys on this forum it shouldn't be too difficult to built yourself a nice looking/performing locost.

where is the best place to look for a chassis and what kind of price should i expect to pay? I have all the sierra running gear from the F2 so it should keep costs down.

Are you building one from scratch as you said a few posts up or actually going to buy a complete chassis?

If you buy a complete one there are many to choose from; MK, GTS, *cough*Tiger*cough* etc etc and lots of people will be able to give you good advice on which one is the best in their opinion...

If you are scratch building then buy your tube from the steel stockholders...prices seem to vary between £70 and £100 for all the tube....

Cheers
David

i think i would only have build my own if i was modifying my F2, so i'll probably just buy a chassis. What would you reccommend? I have a lot of sierra and escort parts, like engines, gearboxes, axles, wishbones, hubs etc.

GTS and MK seem to be the best from what people say....take a look in the relevant sections and see what you think...both use Sierra donors...

At the end of the day its a personal thing, its up to you really...
