Windscreen surround/roof

Hiya all.

Ok I have a question and would value all opinions but first a bit of background.

I'm NOT building a seven. I'm going for a coupe type thing, not too different from the vortex gt3 as featured in this months complete kitcar.

Now my original intention was to some big ass seamless tube to create the A pillars / windscreen surround. However working in the garage today I started thinking (always a bad move) since pennies are tight what about if I used 25x25 or even 19x19 RHS welded to the chassis for the windscreen surround and roof support, possibly welded to a roll over bar at the rear.

My question is can anyone give me a good (safety/IVA) reason I couldn't/shouldn't do this? Oh I inted to cover the inside so radius wouldn't be an issue.

If you rolled the car all the weight would be held up by whatever you fit - id go for the proper stuff

True... But it would still be stronger than the surround around a 7's windscreen and since it would have a roll over bar at the back would there be a great deal of difference?

There are also production cars out there (dodge viper?) that has no structral support for the roof.

What do we think?
