Steering column bracket

Would this bracket pass the SVA, I made it today but as you can see I've not welded it or drilled it yet but looking at it later, I'm wondering if it will or not.

The 3/4 piece of square near the brakes is just holding the column in position until welded etc. It's the 'L' shaped piece I'm worried about.

not to sure myself about the crossbrace that you're clamped to it all depends on knee clearance in event of a shunt. take a look at MK indy chassis and put a hoop in seams easier.

I think the handle of the G clamp will need careful radiusing

One suggestion - clamp it as well as you are able, then sit in the car (on a plank!) and try and wiggle the wheel vigorously from side to side. Obviously don't compromise your collapsable column!

This is the sort of thing the SVA tester might well do, and if he detects any movement he might reject it.

The reason I say this is that the bracket looks like it may twist a bit - but it looks quite thick so you should be OK.
