chassis recommendations

hi there, I'm just starting a locost project, managed to get a couple of donor cars sierra for the main parts and hopefully a 2.3 volvo turbo for the engine and box, will the chassis take about 250 bhp? Im just over 6ft tall any advice which would be the best? the car is going to be kept for a very long time, I dont tend to change often... bikes ive had for 7 yrs not any rush to change them, so this wil be kept for hopefully over ten years, fed up with all the modern rust traps and everything needing electrics.....

Are you planning to make your own chassis? If so, get the current Haynes "Build your own sports car on a budget", it's very good.

There are a couple of people on here fitting/running 5 pot Volvo engines, Benzine and matt_claydon spring to mind, both in MK Indy chasis IIRC.

Another member volvosport is very up on all things ovloV related as well.

The Haynes Roadster is very well suited to the taller driver as its 2 inch,s wider & 4 inch,s longer than the Ron Champion chassis Locost.

Thats if you wish to build your car from scratch, tho there are firms that can supply a fully welded chassis to the Haynes Roadster design. Or a "Flat pack chassis kit " too

cheers

I'm doing a volvo t5 book locost for me and my dad (6'4". Ive extended the cockpit by 2 inches and otherwise it all fits, just.

Personally given my choices again Id opt for the T4 engine, or the saab turbo for simplicity (gearboxes for example actually fit)
