Installing engine & gearbox

This might sound a silly question, but...

With a seven-style, is it possible to put the bolted-together engine & gearbox on a pallet on the floor & then lower the chassis onto it, before finally lifting the engine & box into position?

I realise this may depend on the particular model of seven - I'm just asking in general terms. The engine would be a 2.0 Zetec blacktop with an MT75 box.

Is this any easier then lowering them and then having to winkle them into place (single-handed)?

Thanks

you may still need to raise the engine higher anyway.

i've managed to install three different engines in my chassis by myself with no real issues, just take things slowly

I know it couldnt be done in my panther with a 1.8 blacktop but thats because of the chassis. Unlikely unless you decide to take out some struts and put them back in afterwards i guess....

That's how I did mine - rear wheels fitted, front lifted and engine/g/box wheeled in underneath on a crawl tolley.
I think the chassis weight that way was lighter than the engine and box together so easy to hoist from my garage roof

I found it as easy to fit from above with a block and tackle hung from roof beam. I have done it twice on my own.
If you can enlist help even better.

Hi, I lifted mine up from underneath, my chassis was up on trestles and the engine/box was on a trolley lifted whole assembly up with block and tackle from beam in the roof
it depends if you have any braces in the way.

i have done it both ways on mine its faster going through the top as you don't need to shimmy the car back and forward. if you dont have a crane then i would put the box in then the engine.
