SB1

I picked up 1.5M of 25x50 for the SB1 but it's 2.5mm thick steel and I'm wondering if I'd not just be better welding two lengths of 1.5mm 25x25 together as per the book.

Is this part particularly stressed and would the benefit of the extra thickness warrant the weight increase?

I'm dithering so any input appreciated.

Thanks

Andrew

From a weight point of view, a whole chassis made in 2mm thick box section, rather than 1.6mm, weighs around 5kg more. So these couple of uprights are of no concern, weight wise. Welding 25x25 together is just to save getting some 50x25. So now you've gone and got some, you might as well use it.
