Changing driver's side on Haynes roadster chassis
Hello everybody,
I haven't got recent replies on the "old" topic, so I try to post a new one, may be it will appear on the first page and attract
more people.
I'm building a Haynes roadster (Chris Gibbs book). I want to make a left steering wheel chassis, as I'm living in Sweden (and, on top of
it, I'm French !) If I build the chassis as it is described in the book, the room on what is the passenger side will be to small to fit a pedal
box for the driver. My idea is to reverse all the non-symmetrical tubes, which means the transmission tunnel, U7 and U8. But my concern is : will the
gearbox fit with such a change ? I will use a 5 gear T9 gearbox from a 2.0i Sierra, but I don't have it yet, so I can't make any try. I
guess the gear box is perfectly symmetrical and centred, so it should not be any problem, but could anybody please confirm I can do that ?
I have to start the building of my transmission tunnel now, so I want to be sure.
Thanks to all of you.
S.

I think your best bet would be to post on the Haynes forum for questions like this as there are several, non UK builders that have gone passed this
stage and can answer your questions.
Try http://www.haynes.co.uk/forums/index.php
I think you will also find some builders in your country.
Hope this helps and do enjoy your build.

Why do I have to make the tools to finish the job? More time then money.

Thank you very much for the tip Adrian, I just post the topic on "locostsweden" forum, but I'm going to try right now on the Haynes
Radster forum as you advised.
Thanks again.
Cheers.
