if your welds are quality you wont nees to grinde them all try just to grind the surfaces that need it

Unless you are a pro welder I would not even dream of grinding them flush! If you have dodgy penetration the bit you grind off might have been giving you all the strength.

make the welds look pretty to start with but dont grind them back for cosmetic reasons alone

I built myself a small desk to practice welding, and I wanted that to look pretty so I ground the welds flush. Unfortunately I was then able to pull the metal apart without too much difficulty, not exactly the result I wanted!

At least it got me adjusting my welding technique to improve penetration, it was obvious what I was doing was wrong.

Gona be a bit of a problem skinning the outside of your chassis then if you dont grind them flush unless you want lumps and bumps in the panels!!!

I always find you are FAR better glueing with araldite or using Blue-Tac. (take the packet with you to show the IVA man).

Can I use superglue? I hate mixing Araldite, it's just so sticky...

No, sorry, superglue just won't do - if you can't use Araldite, you can always use some snot (the sticky type, not the runny stuff)!

One point (a sensible one this time!) that the IVA man will want to see - particularly on an amateur-built chassis is the welds where the seatbelt mounts are fitted - they usually get covered with ally or fibreglass panels, so photograph them for the IVA test before panelling them in.
