You'll want around 70m of 25mm steel. Just go through the plans and add them up! Remember you'll need some round aswell as some 3mm
plate.

I used the mcsorley cutting list which details the number of 3m lengths. I ordered half that number of 6m lengths which gave me some spare and sawed
them in half to fit them in the garage. I've had surprisingly little waste.

What kind of price are we looking at for a whole chassis?

I did it in excatly the same way as dern did, from the cutting list you find with the plans on mcsorley's website. Purchased my steel in 6m
length as it was cheaper buyingit in 3m lengths . It turned out I actually had enough steel to screw-up on two of the rails, make new ones & a
little left over.

when i paided for my steel about 7 months ago the basic chassis was about £60 (not including the floor) however on sat i brought some steel to make a
pair of gates and it got over £120 and the man said that the price of steel has gone up by 100% cus china is buying all of the scrap steel and then
selling it back to us

The basic box steel (square and round) for the chassis cost me about 120 quid. This did not include metal for wishbones or any steel or aluminium
sheet.

We got about 6 offcuts (about 2m) from a factory. They were vertually free (a tenner?) from a manufacturer just down the road. Admitedly we
weren't building a whole chassis, just finishing one off.
